Shimla is full of many beautiful locations to visit. Some are easily accessed by road and some places are adventurous to visit via road and via trekking.
So this post is about the HATU TOP or HATU PEAK,(some call it as Haatu Mata) we visited few years back and are planing to visit again in this November. Dates are not final yet but Please let us know if you wanted to be part of this small journey. As per HTDC its called Hatu Peak but I’d love to call it Hatu Top. Because on this location you really feel like being at the top of the world.
Hatu is named after Hatu Mata and have a beautiful Temple on the peak and is the end point for this journey.
Last time when we were at Hatu Top, the Hatu Mata Temple was being renovated in great Kinnauri style and looks and scriptures were marvelous. Its on 3300m height and On a clear sunny day, you get great views of the Himalayan range.
Climate :As per official tourism department, In winter, the temperature can hover around freezing point when heavy woolens are required. During summer, the climate is pleasant and cottons / light woolens are suggested. Narkanda and Hatu peak receive heavy snowfall in winters.
how to reach there?
Its on NH22 and From Shimla to Hatu Peek, total distance is 71 Kilometers and from Narkanda it’s 7 kilometers. Via road its 7 KM from Narkanda but if you love to hike it will be 6KM trek.
It can be accessed by a bike or car but the road is difficult to ride. the road is for bike, cars and jeepable only and is really risky for those who are not comfortable to drive at 1st and 2nd gear. So will suggest to leave your vehicle at Narkanda or at lake around half way to Hatu top and continue hiking toward top and enjoying Nature. You can get the texi from Narkanda Bus stop easily.
Now this Lake Stop or tea Break Stop is very Exciting spot. If you visit this place, late in December or in snow time then you might be lucky to see this lake Frozen and can walk on that, which is a great experience in itself.
There are only few places in Himachal where you can feels this kind stuff near any easy reachable city . But please check with locals before putting steps in lake. It may be half frozen and can break with your weight and rest you can imagine, what can happen.
The Hatu Peek road is surrounded by pine trees. At top you got spectacular view of the Himalayan ranges, snow clad mountains and dense forests, green fields and apple orchards. Would recommend Hiking to reach the peak to enjoy Nature.
This is a Must Visit location for adventure lovers and bikers. You will find this more exciting in bike and there are many clubs who arranges / organize road trip to Hatu Top.
I know, You might want to view lot of photographs for Hatu top location. We have Old pics from our last journey and wanted to post them but then decided to postpone it due to our purposed Journey. We will post lot of new images once we are back from our Hatu Top Trip in November.
